This course is for those with strategic and/or operational responsibility for safeguarding adults either in an organisation or across agencies. The course will support an in-depth understanding of all the core components of safeguarding adults and support learners in both improving personal practice and support best practice in a single organisation or across a range of agencies.

Investment of time:
The course requires 4 classroom days (3 consecutive days + 1 day) and 3 days work based projects, assignments and study. You will be required to complete all tasks within 6 months. Tutor support is available throughout.
The course uses a wide range of learning methods to ensure that everyone is able to fully participate and optimise their learning.
Method of assessment to be used:
All students are to submit a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio will include:
- Structured assessment from self, peer and tutor during the training and managerial input from workplace (or volunteer placement) where available.
- Three case studies outlining your practice in cases with a reasonable to high level of complexity.
- Minutes from strategy meetings, case conferences that you participate in.
- Minutes from strategy meetings or case conferences, protection plans that you chair.
- Investigation plan or investigation report that you have written.
- An essay on a aspect of safeguarding adults work.
- A reflective log.
Certification:
On successful completion of the course the student will be awarded a Certificate in Professional Development by University of Strathclyde.
